Shmuel Rosner advances the idea that the Yom Kippur War was the first time Israel experienced a “mixed win” following the decisive victories of 1948 and 1967. But now this mixed experience became the norm. "It was the victory to end all victories”, he once wrote. Rosner has been involved in more than 10 new books about the 1973 War  as an editor, and he examines what they tell us about the way Israel understands the lessons of that war forty years later.

Shmuel Rosner is an Israeli columnist and editor.  He is a contributing opinion writer for the International New York Times.  He is the political editor of the Jewish Journal. In 2008–2011, he wrote for The Jerusalem Post.
